A unique multidisciplinary clinic focused on evidence- based management of TMJ/jaw disorders

We care about providing a service that is set up to listen, to provide expert assessment and a very clear and concise management plan for people experiencing temporomandibular joint disorders (TMD) and orofacial pain. We appreciate the complex and debilitating nature of TMD and know we are better at diagnosing, managing and treating this together as a team.

How does the clinic work?

  • You see us as a team

You will be seen by an ENT, TMJ/orofacial pain Dentist and a face/TMJ physiotherapist.

  • We take a thorough History

We take a detailed history of your experience/condition, your goals, medical history and related risk factors for TMD.

  • Team assessment

We all assess the areas relevant to us. This means we don’t have to double up assessing you individually. This includes assessment of:

    • Your jaw and neck. Joints and musculature

    • Teeth and bite

    • Splint if you have one

    • Upper airways, nose, throat and sinus

    • Ears if needed

    • Cranial nerves

  • Discussion of findings and management plan

We discuss what we find with you in a way that is easy to understand. We plan how we can achieve your goals and make a clear management plan. This can include: starting treatment, referrals for imaging or other investigations (e.g. sleep studies) or referral to other specialists (e.g. pain specialist, maxillofacial surgeons, prosthodontist)

  • Follow up

We can follow your progress in clinic together or individually depending on what you need.

We communicate with your referring practitioner and or GP via letter.
